Hi Guys, So i disconnected the motor for the wipers ages ago to do some work behind it. When I reconnected it the wipers 'terminate' in the vertical position rather than the horizontal. I did some messing around but with no luck at all. Am I being stupid here? Any idea on how to fix this? Below is an image of how it looks in its normal position, also a video of the wiper and motor in action Thanks!

Have you removed the arms?

You mean the actual wiper arms? Yeah I took them off to paint it. I tried different positions but when I put them on horizontally they ended up going sliding upwards over the front roof of the van (and scratching my nice new paint job).

Undo the nut on the wiper motor that holds the crank arm on, and remove the crank. Turn wipers on, and off again, so that the motor parks. Put wipers in original park position, and attach crank in that position. Wipers should park properly now.

Sounds right Conrod. It has to be where the arms where put back on.

Ahh of course that makes a lot of sense!! I think it had been fucked about with when the arms weren't on, because I had to put a new lever on (old one was blowing a fuse) so thats probably when that happened. Cheers everyone!!

Poor show muttley - to make up for it you could always come over and fix it. It's only a short trip from yours to Devon I believe

What a scented joke . I tried all evening to sort this. Regardless of parking the motor, and then connect the crank and fit the wiper, the arm goes up first , and then down. So you can park it at the top where it should be, but it will swing up over the top of the vehicle.
Someone at some point has fucked around with the wipers big style. There is a 5 wire plug going into the motor plug which only has 3 wires going into the actual motor.
Previously they had fitted an wiper lever with intermittent which I have been told earlier is not something these wipers can do at all.
Am trying to work out whether somewhere along the way some dodgy wiring has resulted in the park being reversed, or something along these lines. . .
Weird thing is they worked with the incorrect lever (well maybe not that weird) but that kept blowing a fuse.

The custom wiper arm will have a down position, for intermittent. This will blow fuses on a standard van. Edina (chassis cab luton, custom) has stopped parking so Muttley's going to see if changing the switch will help.

Yeah that's okay I replaced the wiper arm with a correct one so the fuse doesn't blow.
But my problem is that the arm goes -up- and then -down-
So I disconnect the motor from the crank and let it park. Then I position my arm where I want it (at the top). Then I reconnect the motor to the crank with the washer and 13mm nut (making sure that whilst tightening the nut I'm not moving the crank.
Then when I activate the wipers they go up (over the top of of the van), and then down. When I turn it off, it parks where I connected it. But what it should be doing is going -down- and then -up- surely? and then parking at the top.
I chased the wires all the way back to plug for the lever. It was late so I fucked about with stuff a bit (not a great idea after a few beers) and it ended up with reversing the action on the lever. That is fixed now but I couldn't see anything along the way that would result in the actual problem.
This is driving me crazy as I have to drive it around with the wipers obstructing my view.
When I got the van then it wasn't this way, but the motor has been disconnected a few times, the lever has been replaced, and god knows if the crank got fucked around with when we were renovating, it wasn't a priority when I didn't have a floor and gaping holes in the walls! (you can see in my avatar if you squint)
Maybe the motors just done? Or does the crank need adjusting?
Does anyone know the codes for the motor? couldn't find them online.
Will post pictures and video online later.

It sounds like an operating arm has been fitted on the wrong side?
So if I get this correctly you take the wiper arms off, turn the wipers on then off to let them park, refit the arms in the park position and they go up rather than down?

I think you are parking the wipers on the wrong side of the screen. Try resetting the wiper motor, and parking the blades at the opposite side, (but still in the up position) that you are currently setting them.
