The mk2 Dormobile continues to provide me with hidden gems. This was from ages ago. I was dicking about in the engine bay and it fell off something? This is probably an obvious one to you lot; What be it? --- Might have seen my electrical thread - most of that has been sorted now. It was a combination of crazy daisy chaining power from both dormobile and previous owners and lights for warnings for stuff that doesn't even exist anymore. Anyhow, there is a junction situation behind the panel heater . It has a cable that has been joined at the 5 'pin' plug that goes into the back of the dash, and appears to be daisy chaining off the head lights. When I turn the head lights on, this bulb turns on. Its a genunine ford bulb holder. Theres a loose wire flapping about as well. I think . . . that it could actually be for the previous cigg lighter / 12v plug. and the loose wire would go into the positive on lighter. However I am a little confused as to why the bulb lights up when the head lamps are turned on. Could it be anything else?

Electrics are not my strong point. The only thing I can think of, is it's some kind of basic resistor. Ask Muttley, he might know.

Might the bulb just be the original backlight that would go into original cigarette lighter to illuminate at night(ring light round lighter) when lights are on?

Your “thing” is the broken end of a piece of throttle linkage.

Yeah I figured on the cig lighter in the end.
I'll look into throttle linkage - sounds important . . . ?

Yeah sorry I thought the pics were of the same thing! I blame the small phone screen. The bulb holder is a panel light. Does your dash all light up?

yeah dash lights up everywhere it should.
Not sure I have anywhere for a light on the heater control? It's literally just the circular knob that turns clockwise for amount of airflow, then heat and direction controlled by the sliders.
I think its probs for the old cig lighter, I've just fit a new one without a bulb as the old was done for anyway.
Should I get that throttle linkage sorted?

Sorted out all the electrics.
Turns out neither the cold start or the starter solenoid are connected and the engine has been starting purely from the tiny cable running from the ignition switch to the starter motor!!
Disconnected cold start could possibly be the reason why the temp gauge isn't working?
