Guys,
I'm looking for a tow bar that's suitable for my Mk1 Please.

you can fit a Mk5 transit one with very few mods mate. I think you need to drill two new holes. Cant remember if they need to be in the chassis or the tow bar though.

Thanks for your reply Fred, I had heard a rumour that the later Transit towbars fit with slight mods. I'll get a Mk5 one then, I got one for my MK5 recently.

Not got many plans for it as such at the moment, probably keep it as is for this year and show it round the shows then over next winter I may tinker with it a little, have some ideas of what I'd eventually like to do to it but we'll see. I'll start a thread for it soon with some better pictures of it.

66 is a nice early one, mine is a 67 so very similar. Are you going to keep it LHD or swap it over? I'm interested in what you're hoping to tow with it. The 1700 V4 combined with the very low ratio axle (assuming that's what yours has got ;D) is not a good combination for anything too serious I have found.

Yours is early too, is yours a ex German fire truck too then? I'm in two minds whether to convert mine to rhd or leave as is. I'm certainly not shy of the work involved to convert it to rhd. Eventually I want to be able to tow my small caravan with it to shows once I've got around to changing the diff ratio and a engine swap but like I say gonna leave it as is for this year.
