Probably one for Muttley but i had a problem with leaking from my lucas pump it was bad enough combined with the smoke from the engine for me to consider an engine swap..i have been out to it today and fired it up and found its leaking from the side of the pump, from what looks like a plunger held in with a circlip,i have turned this back and forth a few times and the leak has stopped!! any ideas what this plunger thing is for??its next to a plastic cap thing.also it seems to have stopped smoking..cant be anything to do with that can it??

What colour was the smoke? You have probably backed off the stop and its now not ovefueling.

I think thats the hole to put the peg that locks the pump at TDC.
