I am selling my camper via an auction on eBay:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111134592148?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
Please see this listing for more photographs.
For sale is my beloved camper ‘Zeke’ a 1982 CI camper on a Mk2 Ford Transit base.
1993cc engine, right-hand drive, petrol, automatic gearbox.
MOT until 29 July 2014
Tax until 31 December 2013
Currently insured – so he is legal for you to drive away
I hold the V5 registration document – see pictures posted at www.facebook.com/XKE580X
I have tried to be as honest as possible in this listing - but feel free to ask any questions.
I am happy to deliver the camper within 50 miles of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, but the buyer must pay in full for the camper PLUS one-way fuel costs of 50p per mile PLUS my return taxi / train fare in advance.
Why am I selling??
Sadly Zeke now needs repairs to the bodywork above the cab caused by damp and rot that go beyond my DIY skills and so it is with reluctance that I have to sell. We have enjoyed many happy weekends away in Zeke, and he is great at festivals, but he is no spring-chicken. He is happy cruising along at 45 to 50 mph, but he can be a little greedy on fuel at these speeds. I would advise topping up at regular intervals.
Both front seats have seatbelts – but there are no seatbelts in the back.
You will note that Zeke is 31 years old, and is showing his age. He has dents, rust spots, damp patches and mouldy bits. He also has a few rattles and squeaks when you are driving. I think this adds character! I have tried to include pictures of all the problem areas (and my duct tape repairs) so that you can see what you are getting – you will find all of these pictures and many more posted at www.facebook.com/XKE580X - but I would advise you to come to see him if you wish to get a full picture of all of the issues.
You are also welcome to take a test drive (to hear the rattles and squeaks for yourselves) – provided that you have your full driving licence (photocard and counterpart) and proof of insurance with you.
I will be checking eBay daily during the auction and will respond to any messages, but if you wish to call me to arrange a visit my number is 01723 383 999. You can text me on 07789 793 584 but please note that I do not answer calls to my mobile from numbers I do not recognise.
What you get:
Camper with character – including all relevant documents and receipts for work
Fuel additives – 2 bottles (both part used)
Tax disc valid until 31 December 2013 (if sale price exceeds £600)
Thetford Porta-potti (cleaned) (if sale price exceeds £600)
Waste water container (drains from kitchen sink)
Tow-bar
The good:
MOT for 12 months – no advisories
Taxed until December 2013 (will be included if sale price exceeds £600)
Over £600 of work done to ensure he is roadworthy and legal to drive (see receipts)
Gas hob and grill work – but I would advise a safety check as I never had one done
3-way fridge works on mains hook-up – never tried it on battery or gas
Sockets work on electric hook-up – useful for phone-charging
Internal lights – SOME work on battery power – others do not
New fuel pump, starter battery and refurbished radiator in last 2 years
The bad:
Water pump doesn’t work so there is no running water – I always used bottled water – but there is a large tank under one of the dining area seats (the filler cap is behind driver’s seat) if you wanted to have it checked, serviced and repaired
Cushions are faded and stained/marked in places – I always covered them with large throws
No radio in cab – I always used a portable radio
Rust spots and dents all over cab and body of the camper – he is 31 years old and has 96081.8 miles on the clock!
Inside is showing its age too – this is not a new camper and needs some TLC
The ugly:
Roof leaks in places – so damp/mouldy areas in living area especially inside two of the top cupboards – I clean these before every trip – I have also used duct tape to patch some leaks in the past
Wallpaper coming off the walls due to damp – improvised duct-tape repairs in place
Rotten corner of bed area above cab – THIS NEEDS ATTENTION – as it would not take weight of a person at present (I just sleep on the bed made from the table area instead) – this is currently being held together by a lot of duct tape! This is also my reason for selling – someone else may be able to fix this but I just don’t have the necessary skills!
