Started investigating the nearside of Duck today. It's worse that the other side and there is a hole in (what I call) the upper lower valence on the base of it near to what I assume is the chassis member. Is this panel structural and what is involved in replacing it? It;'s fairly sound looking from the inside, bt when you lie down and look up you can see the hole.
The chassis member itself is solid, it's just where water has sat inside the void and eaten through the upper lower valence.

a pic would help. Is it the upper sill? Either way, if its less than 30cm from a load bearing point its a fail...

I assume the chassis member is the load bearing point and the rotten bit is the sill?

I guess you might recognise it any way, but that's the tank on the left, chassis member running through middle of pic...bottom of sill where the hole is and lower valaence is to the left.

It's getting to it to do it that is the problem....it's effectively in an upside down trench between the lower valence and the chassis member. I'll bring it over in the week if you are around and show you.

How easy is it to get replacement panels and from where? Sill under the driver's door is pretty ropey and the rear of both main cills could do with a better repair than I can do. It seems to me to do the main sills properly, I'd have to replace all the valence as well as the sill. ANy advice appreciated

thanks.....going to run it until July when the CVRT is due and then book it in for remedial action. Looking at the other side, that has a repair patch already, so that's what I can do. Have a bit of a cold at the mo, but will pop over sometime soon.
