Afternoon all Question 1:I have fitted the cam belt and when I do I can't get the pointer on the cam wheel to line up with the dot its either to the left or the right of the dot (equivalent to about halfa tooth on the wheel) which side is best? Question 2: ignition timing Am I right in assuming that the long notch is tdc and the smaller notches are 2 degrees apart. Regards Andy Engine is a 2.0 pinto with a 1600 head.

Tdc is the heavy deeper line on the crank, cam should point directly at the dot. If it doesn't then manually find TDC by removing no 1 plug and use a long thin screwdriver on top of the piston, turn over slowly and watch the rise and fall of the screwdriver.
