Hi people im new to this as someone who always loved the ford transit its time i get one as a project, but i have a question, as everyone knows that most of the transit vans of 1970/1980's era are pretty much all exported out to countrys like India, AFRICA, PAKISTAN, etc, i came across a 1984 model it had Turbo Diesel written on the side of it, did they make turbo diesels in the Mark 2 of that era.

i seen one in egypt and it was a UK model and was turbo diesel, it had to be standard them countrys dont have the aftermarket option. it just dont exist in those countrys. i seen one in pakistan few years ago same thing except turbo was removed due to fuel economy but i was told by the man that the turbo d model came was rare.

My experience is that a turbo gave better power and economy with small diesels so it would be a step backwards to remove it

Yep Ford never did a Turbo Diesel mk2.
The 2.4 York was until 84ish when the Di took over.

Welcome mate! I too agree there was no turbo option. It would be a conversion using a 90s engine. Have a look at the original brochures at the top of the tech section

Quick easy swaps are the later TDI with a mechanical pump (has the same block as the option DI) or the option V6. Gearboxes to match these are MT75 5 speed and 4 speed overdrive.

1990s mate in fact up to 2001. You don't need the CPU if you get the right mechanical pump. They can also be run on veg oil as long as the pump's a Bosch.
