I had problems with the later gearbox crossmember so I adapted the mk2 one. And also the later prop did not fit so I had one made up. you need the adapter plate for the gearbox to engine and a prop bearing/holder as the prop needs to slide in the middle best to ask mutley on here as he's done it aswell and remembers things better than me :-) how late is later ? #newbie I will do some research and get some info from mutley

Mk3 had the type9 (boo) Mk4/5 (92-2001) had the MT. If you go to this, wanna swap mats? I got a donor with OD and as Alex's MT is stuffed (fitted a decade ago!!) we are going with the OD. Going for originality

Going for originality I will keep you in mind Anyway, I'm probably getting ahead of myself, the Transit works and sits on the motorway happily at 65, so I will concentrate on fixing up the inside first so we can go away and have some fun

If it sits fine at 65 then that's fine. A 5 speed will save a bit of fuel on the long runs. But make it homely first you will be living in it longer than driving it.

Got to agree with sleepy. We did our MT conversions for long distance work. Now I want originality.
