I best say hello to everyone , well I put a cheeky bid on ebay at the last second and wow it was mine . This is the only photo I have personally taken , I have a few plans to update it with a split charging system, 240v Hook-up and a heating system for now, long term we will have to see...... This is our first Transit and our first Camper, but I have been into the classic car scene for a very long time

Welcome mate! The five speed isn't too hard. I am not a fan of the type9 as fitted in Mk3s. The MT75 is far better, but needs to have a new hole cut in the floor as the gearlever comes up from the box to the right of the 4 speed. Another option for you would be the overdive.

I was looking at an MT75 conversion, I don't mind cutting a hole, as I can soon weld up the old one Are the o/d easy to get hold of, I bet they're not

So would it be a good option be to buy a rusty late 90's 2.5 td 5 speed swb transit and swap all the bits into mine?

I had problems with the later gearbox crossmember so I adapted the mk2 one. And also the later prop did not fit so I had one made up. you need the adapter plate for the gearbox to engine and a prop bearing/holder as the prop needs to slide in the middle best to ask mutley on here as he's done it aswell and remembers things better than me :-)

no overdrive, but it sits at 65 okay so I guess it has a decent ratio final drive (something to check)
