Believe me those pics don't look too bad! The early vans are made of thicker metal than the later and modern vans. When you say the dashboard needs replacing, do you mean the dials and clocks or the metal? Hi Fred, yes the metal is thick compare to new cars. I have no clue how the original dashboard looks like haha so I cant tell if it is missing a lot of things. But for sure the metal near the windscreen need to be replaced. Here is the photo of the dashboard, only dial I can see is the Speedometer

Opening front vent windows.... bonus. Windowles van.... bonus. Local assembled.... bonus Are the number plates ridgy didge? Is labour still cheap there? Bluudy rippa Hello Cadill69, you think it's a good find? I'm having trouble finding a garage to do the bodyworks. Most restoration garage that I went to asked me to come back in 3-6 months as they are full. The number plate is real if that's what you mean lol, BAD 8122. Labour supposed to be cheap here, but I think I will have to fork out at least AUD$10,000 to restore this.

That's the original dash. With your screen is out, it's possible to repair the dash, if you can get the parts from a van that's being broken up you can do the whole thing. Wow that's a hell of an estimate! Can you do some of the work yourself?

That is lot to spend! Are you in KL or one of the big metropolitan ares? I'm sure you could find a workshop in a kampong that would love to do it for far far less. Ask your amah....

Finally!! Found a bodywork garage that does old cars. Just towed the car there, estimated to be ready in 1.5months, cost estimated at MYR4000.00 (without paintjob). Also found a place that can fix the window and windscreen rubbers, door rubbers etc. And found a place that can make the seats for me, just need a photo of it Cadill, I live in Penang Cost here are reasonable. Fred, I plan to buy the missing parts and accessories myself to save some cost. But I dont know which website to look for and of they will deliver to Malaysia? If the seller is based in the UK then probably my sister who lives there can help to ship to me. The main question right now is if the engine and gearbox can be repaired, if it can't be repaired where can I get it and how much is the cost?

I buy panels from Ralph in the British Isles and he ships them to Sydney. Arrives in less than two weeks! Good prices to. He is on here.
700 pounds sounds much better. I'm sure they can resurrect the box and motor. Ralph has bits for that to. Is it a straight 4 or V4?
Fun place Penang. Full of aussie tourists?

Should be dismantled tomorrow or the day after. Only then will i get the verdict. But most of the people who saw the engine told me to get a new engine and gearbox instead hehe. But i will get the final answer by end of this week. Hopefully Ralph can help me with parts

Bet it is fixable. Does the engine number match the VIN plate? It is all very exciting.
