Only been starting/running van up to temp lately, noticed that I have to crank it more and more to start, until yesterday went to start and batteries dead, never touched battery, was totally flat on last trip back to U.K.,wire had come off of alternator(forgot to retighten nut when changing head),got off ferry ran it to London, took charge, forgot about it(2years ago!) Keep reading on forums about V4 starting probs,(check fuel lines, pump, fit non return valve, timing etc) Long and short,Fully charged battery, now starts on the button,i.e.pump acc once, flick key, running. Was pump twice, crank, pump twice, crank, pump, crank run after two weeks sitting. Never really noticed how slow it was cranking until putting fully charged battery on it,must be spinning twice as fast as I've ever heard it in my ownership. Probably would of saved me the price of two petrol pumps, petrol lines fiddling with things etc to just charge battery full, never did cos it cranked and started, the battery looked new and the rest hadn't been touched. Wonder how many seldom used van owners dig deeper(as I did) because simple basic things get overlooked.
