i know this is about mk1/2 transits but im sure some of you will enlighten me......
im back on the mk2 bus questions again.....
so i know of a mk3 (1989) twin axle minibus for sale at the mo, its got a 2.5di engine, higher ratio back axle and standard steering. What i was wondering is could i buy this and transfere all the running gear from the mk3 into the mk2....up front it has leaf springs like the mk2, would it be worth buying the mk3 anyway and using the running gear? or should i try and get a mk5 front set up as ive seen been done with a few lads here in ireland....
thanks

What are you hoping to gain?

for a start the rear axle has better ratio's, but was hoping to get power steering from a later van as steering is to heavy as I want my wife to use it also.....

Either find a rare mk3 ps steering box or use one of the electrical systems - I know it popular but converting to IFS is a lot of work.
If you have a twin wheeler then I think the diff centres will swap, saving you mucking about with the slightly narrower mk3 axle.

Don't you need a carrier to keep the Diff together?
