I have a problem with the temperature gauge on my 1986 Mk2 (phase 2) basically, it does not work, and never has! If I ground the wire out at the engine then the gauge will read maximum. This suggests the gauge and voltage stabiliser is okay. Can anyone please tell me what the correct colour temp sender unit is for this van?

On a pinto it's white, is this Charlotte's sister, the one with the V8?

Mine was the same, however I realised that with no power on then the needle was resting well off the bottom of the gauge. I took the cluster apart and there were 2 cog type adjustment wheels on the meter, I adjusted mine so that it read cold while not connected and it has worked perfectly since.

On a pinto it's white, is this Charlotte's sister, the one with the V8? Hi Fed, it is Supervan 2, with the supercharged V6, from Perrys in London. Has a red band sensor fitted, which was on the old engine. But that never worked either, so I suspect someone had fitted the wrong colour sensor. I will get a white sensor and give that a go, cheers! Mine was the same, however I realised that with no power on then the needle was resting well off the bottom of the gauge. I took the cluster apart and there were 2 cog type adjustment wheels on the meter, I adjusted mine so that it read cold while not connected and it has worked perfectly since. thanks DR, that is very useful to know! I have not pulled apart one of the smaller gauges before. If the white band sensor does not work I will have a crack at that

The white band temperature sender arrived from Burtons today. I fitted it, and for the first time since owning the van I have a gauge that works! Thanks all for your help!
