need help / advice. since ive owned the van its always had a problem with the hand brake i have replaced the rear wheel cylinders shoes and the hand brake cable. the problem is 50% of the times i pull the hand brake up it feels just fine but as it gets tight / to the top it suddenly makes a loud click / bang and the lever jumps up a few more inches.

Have you checked the handbrake lever itself it could be the spring or worn ratchet teeth

No it's fine even if I push button it it does the same sounds like it's coming from the back like something clicks and suddenly I have more slack in the cable to take up

Sounds like the self adjusters on the shoes slipping.

Teeth on the adjusters didn't look bad tho sounds like it's coming from the rear driver side wheel are new adjusters all that expensive ?

Could it be the actual hand brake lever ? Can't see anything wrong under there tho and don't get how it suddenly has more slack in the cable to take up is this a common problem? Has it happened to anyone else ?

Does the lever operate both sets of shoes, it may be the rear cable has broken.
