Sorry for the endless questions!
I've been sorting out the complete mess that was the wiring in my van, mostly around the dashboard.
Because it was a dormobile there were tons of wires that were connected to features that have since been removed many moons ago.
On top of that the previous owner obviously did some bodgy wiring themselves, again connected to features that I have removed.
Some of these questions but seem a bit stupid but this is the first time I've ever done something like this, so here we go!
---------------------
This is what I assume to the brake warning light, given that its attached to the brake cylinder (?) and all! it lights up when the keys in the ignition. Manual says "dual brake system warning light". Am I just being dim and this is the same warning as my ford focus for when the handbrake is on?
--------
The symbols on the light panel don't seem to match the ones in the users manual. Is the one on the left 'preheater warning light' e.g for the glowplugs? I don't seem to have to wait for the plugs to warm up with my van, it literally starts as soon as I turn the keys in the ignition from cold. Doesn't seem to be an actual bulb for the 'low vacuum warning light' and I'm not even sure what that means - not enough pressure in the cylinders? Red one on the far right, fuck knows what that is it looks like some sort of fire extinguisher, and certainly doesn't appear in the manual.
--------
Okay so this looks like an aftermarket light (dormobile i assume) as the hole it was connected to on the dash had obviously been cut open . It appears to be connected to the hazard relay (didn't take a pic but I'll double check). It was earthed to a random bit of the dashboard. It doesn't seem to do anything when the power is on (but then again its not earthed at the minute). I'll try and get a pic of where its connected to the relay. For the record the hazards work fine.
-----------------
So there were 2 wires running god knows where behind the dash, not connected to anything or running through the loom, and definitely looked aftermarket. I can't remember if they were plugged into anything or just disconnected because its been ages. Anyway they went into the fuse box, the fuse for the hazards, connecting at the top female connecter. I've snipped them off and it doesn't seem to have done anything. However there are 3 wires coming out of the bottom female connecter on that fuse. Is this standard and someone has just piggybacked this particular fuse?
--------------
Switch for the heater on the dash. Doesn't seem to be a corresponding connecter to plug into it coming out of the loom (or anywhere else for that matter). Bit confused by this.
----------------
This is the heating control dial. I haven't worked out where it runs to because I'm hesitant to separate the loom. Could it be the case that the control on the dash is obsolete and this is the actual control for the heater? The heater doesn't work at the minute.
---------------
Unknown dashboard light that connected to the dashboard light box picture above. I can't work out where it runs to because it goes into the loom. In fact the red cable (positive I assume) isn't connected to anything!
---------------
These are some 3 pin female connectors coming out of the loom roughly in the same spot as all the other plugs for the dash. What are they for, or are they just surplus connectors for features that aren't present in this particular model?
-------------
What is getting me is that they are so many different coloured cables. I have a basic understanding of 12v, I know red is positive and also brown is, and blue is neutral, but I also know that the colours got changed at some point.
Sorry for so many questions, Mainly I'd like to sort the heater and also make sure all the warning lights are doing their job,
Thanks for all the help fuck knows what I'd do without you guys, I think I owe you all a drink of your choice!!
