I'm looking at buying an MK2 transit the photos it looks very good and the guy says he's happy for me to take a mechanic up to have a look at it (it's quite far from me in the Midlands so I'm trying, but struggling to find one in the local area) he says everything is okay, except the timing belt for the diesel engine and it's had a new paint job and floor. Obviously I know these things are prone to rust, but I'm really unsure what to look for and how I can kind of cover myself to make sure this is a good investment or not, he's about 6K for it but I think I'm gonna haggle him down unless you think that's a good price what do you recommend I do (bar just give up)

Some more details of the van would help, if you are not experienced in old vans I dont recomend buyin it alone. I am in Aldershot, I would be happy to give you a quote for an engineers report.
