I am intending to remove the front guards from one of my parts Transits and was having a look at what is involved. Has anyone got any tips or advice to streamline the process?

This is a MK1 yes? If you dont want to keep the van you are cutting it off then cut plenty of excess and trim back when the wing is removed. You will need to remove the doors too plus bumper and grille.

just to add if you dont want the wing just destroy it. They are welded on so its the only way.

I was actually hoping to re-use the wing, and... salvage the 'A' pillar. Any chance?

Depends how rusty they are and how careful you are

Both are pretty much rust free, which is why I want to salvage them. Looking at the guard, it is, no doubt, spot welded along the front and down the side of the A pillar, but is it welded under the screen and/or to the inner guard/panel?

you can drill out the spot welds. You still might have to cut something with a cutting wheel on an angle grinder.
