'Millenium mill' now that brings back memories for me! I can remember tipping in there in the mid 80s when it was still operated by Spillers. Overnighted there a few times after showering and eating at a café back along Silvertown Way towards Barking.

REALLY? I thought it closed in the late 70s A mate of mine told me he went on a school trip there ij the late 50s. All sorts of stoties why it closed. One is theres soooo much asbestos on the building it would cost too much to get rid of it AND keep it operational.

It was definitely still running in I think 87/88 (ish) Fred, albeit on a reduced scale. I think it was on its last knockings with a skeleton staff but was certainly still operational. Most of the surrounding buildings had already gone with the exception of the one straight in front of you as you went up Mill rd. I didn't know what that one was though. I did a stint on bulk tippers for about 9 months around then and used to run in there on a regular basis with wheat. I always remember the goods in blokes who always tried to make you feel guilty for daring to want to give them some work and then did their best to appear they were doing you a favour by letting you tip there ;D Also used to run into the old RHM site on the Thames just along from Battersea bridge and also the old Allied mill in Crayford. All 3 now long gone I think.
