The rear leafs on my mk1 are the sliding type that sit on a roller, doe anyone know what they are made of and a suitable replacement?

They don't sit on the roller, the pin is really there to stop the spring dropping out the bottom of the hanger as the van moves, bounces etc. There should be a sleeve over he pin which I think is made out of a hard nylon or something very similar. The purpose of the sleeve is to reduce wear and noise between the spring and hanger as there is a lot of slap and movement there especially if the van is unladen. I'm not sure if they are still available anywhere but it shouldn't be too hard to make something suitable.
