Hello, I'm fairly sure my van has the wrong engine number on the V5 as it reckons it's got a 2 litre diesel in it. It hasn't, it's got a 2.5 Ford Di. Dunno if someone put a 2.0 Perkins Prima in there at some point? I had a look the other day but couldn't see the serial number on it - can someone tell me where I ought to be looking?
Thanks!

Wow yours is a county isn't it? Don't think a Prima would have been up to moving it! More likely it was a 2.0 petrol at some point and they changed it to heavy oil on the log book but never changed the engine number...It is/was possible to have not found or n/a for the engine number on the logbook.

Yeah I wondered that - it probably was petrol to start with as it was an emergency vehicle and they usually were back then. So are the DVLA so stupid they'll let you change the fuel type on the log book without changing the engine no.?

Tom on the exhaust side about 2 inches up from the sump there is a rib running front to back its on that nearest the front. It will be behind the ps pump if fitted.

Yes the DVLA are that stupid. So you buy a van snd need to put your name on the V5. While you are at it, you want to get all the derails up to date. So you change the colour and engine number too. It comes back to you....... with only the keeper changed. The DVLA are only capable of changing one thing at a time! Been ther done that!

I changed the colour of one of my bikes on the V5 to 'multi-coloured' saves arguements later......

Thanks everyone - my plan was to update the V5 as I'm moving house and need to tell them about that, so thought I'd get the right engine no. and colour on there at the same time. I'll see what they manage...
