Happy to pack it up, let me know what with OK. I took off the door panel and see that the window is wound down via a bar, not a cable. So that says what type of window bracket is needed. I shall need at least your post code to get a price from UPS. The glass sandwiched between a couple of bits of plywood then wrapped with brown paper would seem to be the way to go. Cardboard corner protectors if possible? And have changed the end of my power cable to that which fits the RV parks here. And have an electrician working as we speak wiring up the trailer hook and checking the internal wiring.

How long do you get to run it on UK plates before it has to be registered over there? Just being nosey really;) You can use UK plates for up to 12 months (with local insurance) if you intend to return it to UK. Louisiana rules say 90 days if it is to remain in USA (plus it has to pass lots of federal rules to get into the country in the first place). But no-one has hassled me for UK plates (I think its because the NOPD don't want the paperwork!) In fact I title all my vehicles in Arkansas cos it's far cheaper than doing it here. HTH.

Got to laugh as i've done similar but in Aus, once it registered interstate is it easier/ cheaper to then transfer to local plates. Do you still need to meet all the same standards?

If so, let me know and I can pay them direct or pay you instead?

Hello all. I am a friend of Alan's (UKMOLE). I have some sad news to report. Alan passed away a few weeks back in Mid November just before Thanksgiving here in the states. I came across this board because I am charged with selling his vehicles and was looking for information on his camper van. Alan was a good friend and I miss him terribly. He loved traveling, fixing up old cars, and his Vespa. I know he was very excited about the Transit. He came over to my house the day he got it back from the shop with the new gear box to show it off. The van now sits at my house along with his escort. He also had a mini cooper (85) that I bought from his estate and will be repairing. I wish I could keep the transit but alas I cannot afford it. That being said I do need to prepare it for sale and hence must familiarize myself with its operation. I will be posting questions about it and looking for help. I need the aforementioned door glass he is talking about in this thread. For anyone interested in more about Alan please check out our Vespa clubs facebook page for stories and photos. link to it from www.nolascootcoop.com Thanks for your support. Joe

Hi Joe, so sorry to hear this very sad news. I think Alan was our first transit owner in the states, although I stand to be corrected on that. I hope we can be of help to you at this very difficult time. I'm sure any questions you've got on the transit will find an answer on here. Good luck with the sale and be sure to point the new owner in our direction.
