Actually, I did hear tell of one or two, but never saw any with my own eyes. They were very early ones.

I worked for Fords when the mk2 came out in 1978, they never had the v4, trust me

You're right Mutts. I worked in a Ford dealership around the time of the changeover and thought one of the main reasons for the redesign of the front end was to do away with the V4 and make the newer pinto lump fit in the same hole as the diesel and therefore cutting production costs. They wouldn't have worried about using up the V4s because they were still being sold for use in Mk1s.
