Don't know much of the financial status in UK but here, the fuel price is quite high considering the average income ( my entire monthly income can be used for buying 300 liters of fuel). That is why I am forced to look into alternative fuels , considerably cheaper to obtain. That is why I only run on LPG my 1.6l ARO-10 and I also converted my BMW R100GS motorcycle to LPG. That gives me the same mileage for 60% the cost in the ARO and 50% the cost in the bike. Now, that I'm determined to revive the Transit an usit as day-to-day winter car (my summer car is the motorcycle :-) ) I must find cheaper Diesel fuel too. I already thoroughly studied the options and concluded that used vegetal(cooking) is the best option so IT already started to design and build the alternate fuel system. I also tried building hho generator but the results were inconclusive- matter remains to be studied further.
I started this thread hoping that others are interested in this matter. If the thread is considered off-topic the admins can delete it, I won't mind at all :-)

A DI with a Bosch pump is happy on veg oil. A York won't be due to the pump seals. You might need a eater for it in real sub zero temperatures though.

As I imagine the whole thing, it will have a Cu pipe coil heatig the tank, heated fuel lines all the way to the 2-way fuel splitter near thepump an maybe also some way to heat the pump. I also intend to fit an auxiliary heater to start the engine warm already and maybe a 220v ac heater and pump for heating the entire cooling circuit while stationary, when power source available. if necessary I'll also fit a heated fuel filter. It might seem a little too complicated but the car will be used mostly in winter.

My engine also has a Bosch rotary pump, quite similar in apearance with the 2.5Di. I also had a spare engine with inline(liniar) Lucas-Minimec(or someting like that as far as I remember, lost that pump long time ago) pump, but that one was broken an it was too expensive to repair it. So wich one goes well with veggie?

The Bosch. It has a round 'top hat' look to it. The Minimec has the wrong seals (as does the CAV Lucas) for veg. Veg makes the seals shrink and allows the pump to leak.
