I used mk3 hangers and made my own chassis rails on my bench folder. I'm going to clear an closed dealership at the end of this week there's supposed to be many panels so if you can wait and I will see what's there. Ralph

I've now ordered them from Germany and am €400 plus postage poorer...or actually Mastercard are at this stage :-)
Info for irish transit....they confirmed at the bodyshop that if you fail the CVRT (MoT for you UK types) now you have to get an Engineers Report on the repairs before they will retest it. (only applies to Chassis repairs I imagine...)
Thanks for all those concerned.
Just to confimr , it's not the spring hanger (which is near perfect) It'sthe chassis rail immediately behind it (poorly repiared accident damage . They asked if I was taking it away until the bits came and I declined ...I don't think it would last long on the road.

Is yours not MOT exempt yet then corky? That sounds a bit much on the failure. Not to mention a paperwork nightmare.

no and under the cuurent scheme it wont be. Pre-1980 are exempt although there are discussions about changing that and I'm hoping for a rolling 30 years. I have plans to re-desigante mine Vintage (and re-registering it with a ZV vintage plate) in 2017 if there is no change.... then I might be able to get away with taxing it with no CVRT. Until then, bullet will have to be bit for buying too new a van.
Body shop said they'd had loads of Transits in recently for chassis work and they all had to get an Engineers report. A good reaosn to get the repairs done first professionally with new parts I guess (trying to convince myself still...)
PS Campers are classified as Commercials here for test purposes)

ya, will photo them before I drop them into bodyshop. The good news is I had a poker around underneath whilst it was on the lift and it seems sound everywhere else on the chassis so I plan to buy in a few more body panels and get them done next winter. Not urgent but wheel arches and door footwells would be good

It is only on chassis repairs that you need the SQI report though not as bad as it seems. There is a lad on done deal making chassis parts for Transits.Try a search in vintage car section.

I haven't spoken to him yet. He thinks I'll have to find someone to take out the engine, but I reckon it could just be suspended from above.
