Personally I'm not interested in fitting an MT75 as I don't want to cut holes in the floor or the mat.

Went through 2 type 9's, both within about 50 miles of install. Right oil is an absolute must. Had a 4 speed hd for a while now, much happier van even though a bit slower. Saving for an overdrive setup

Thanks for the info' guys it really helps. I'm running a 2.5Di which probably doesn't rev so freely as the 2.0 pinto. Overdrive with 4.63 I think is the way to go for me. I will keep trying to find an axle and look into the later ring and pinion option. Will keep you posted! Jas

But sidewaysjas (who's thread this is) obviously isn't as he was going to put it on 16's to get a few more mph, his options are to fit a different diff, bigger wheels or change the box, a standard MT75 is the same overall ratio more or less as his o/d box but if you can build yourself one with the 0.76 5th gear then he should gain a little more speed.

Thanks harry2012 thats a really useful thread. I don't know anything about rebuilding diff's, but I night have to learn. If I can't get an axle thats definately an option. Jas

Hi All, Re the gearbox /overdrive/4:63 diff solutions for the twin wheeler my experience is that the 2.0 petrol ( pinto or V4 ) engine is not man enough to pull that gearing if overdrive ( or 5 speed box) is utilised with 4:63. 3.0l V6 is fine of course but I'm not sure about the diesel derivatives. I would have thought they are underpowered for this combo too. So if you have a 2.0l engine choose overdrive or 4:63..... Not both.

Totally agree.Mk2 came with 4.63 but mk 3 overdrive and 5 speed reverted to 5.14 as if like me you fitted a 4.63 to a mk 3 it ended up slower as it couldn't pull the taller gearing.
