THANKS FRED
I dont know about ugly - I'd say its got character though!
Have been looking for a project to fit out for doing a street food kitchen over next summer (i know that might make some purist restorers reel in horror!) but wanted something different to the Citreon H Vans that are all over now.
I thought a Dormobile or similar would have enough space and stand out. Although I'm open to suggestions on other bodies that might work. Looking at your gallery, theres more variations of mk1/2s then I ever imagined.

Thanks for the advice M. Sent them a message via ebay Like you said Fred, cant hurt to try! I'll keep an eye out for campers too. I figured a Dormobile would have a bit more head height but thats only going by pictures I've seen. I'm not a particularly tall guy but I don't fancy having a crooked neck all day

a parcel van or minibus built round a chassis cowl with a massive deep windscreen. We have a bus and a van, both on my website.

Dormobile converted the campers. All but the tallest people can stand up in em I think they have a 6ft headroom.

They got the extra head height with a lifting roof. Since Dormobile got in first, the name "Dormobile" get's used for all sorts of campers.
All the Dormobiles I know kept the gutter, which means stooping doen to look out the window / serving hatch. .

a2ecommercials.webs.com/photos/Buses-and-Coaches/AFTER.JPG Dormobile minibus I think you will find it's a converted van Fred.
Minibuses were taxed. If you bought a van, and put windows and seats in it, you had to pay extra tax on it. So called car tax.
If you bought a van, and converted it into a camper, you didn't pay car tax. Even though there were windows and seats in it.
Funny old world isn't it?

Is that what you mean when you say a Dormobile please Curly?Yeah this was the type of thing i meant. I've heard them be called a few different names including 'Dormobile'. Think they were originally built to be used as community buses or parcel vans. The whole 'Dormobile' name now being used to refer to anything with pop up tops is what makes them a nightmare to search for.

Funny old world isn't it? Nope. Its an ex sunshine bus complete with donators plaques and wheelchair lift. Also the Dormobile plate on the passenger step.
