The bed twisted like a slice of melba toast as it was raised. This whole thing has shortened my life by years. How l didnt kill the chimp from C&S l dont know.... Petrol was pissing out of the tank and random spectators wandered around smoking. Oh and 2 of me dogs were in the cab the whole time. I called 999 cos mr C&S wanted to hiab the van upright and called out one of thier police style lifters

Oh thats Camilla. Did I mention it took them 12 hours to get to the main caberet? Gary broke down at 10.30, patrolman came an hour after, first truck came at 2, left saying Beryl was too big. He closed the case. After an hour I had a go and the second truck turned up about 9.30!! I called 999 at 10.17. It was 2 hours to level it off. 3rd truck arrived after the fire dept left. Finally got to Muttlys at 3 and bed at 4!

Really really scary, just looked at the pictures again. I take it you have informed the RAC of what you think of there recovery contractors? I can't believe the bed twisted like that, how did they get it back off? I take it Beryl was strapped onto the bed before they started pulling it onboard then?
I can't think what they wanted to do with the hiab - the only thing I could think of to have done would have been putting some rachet straps over the bed and round the truck chassis to try and pull it down or at least stop it going further or maybe stick the stabiliser leg out as far as possible on the leaning side and push it down fully to try and tilt the whole truck back...

Point is, there was ONE strap on the van, on the passenger side. Fire brigade used a massive slow winch bolted to a fire engine to pull the bed down. Took the best part of an hour but it worked.

I hope you have bought a lottery ticket Fred, its nothing short of devine intervention that stayed on there with one strap on the wrong side.

This is what happens when ill trained idiots are let loose in Recovery trucks! The guy winched it up on one side of the axle, put ONE strap on the nsr wheels and the ran the body too high before levelling it out, the pivot on the bed gave way and the floor twisted with no support. The back axle of Berly has been twisted and pushed over to the os, it broke off both the locating bosses on the axle as it moved sideways! I have spoken to the RAC and told them exactly what I think of the operator and what is needed to put the van right. The RAC rep I spoke to did not even know what a leaf spring or a king pin was!! The mind boggles
